It's always better to learn when your winning. In a perfect world that is what happens each time. We all know that this is not a perfect world. Sometimes, you have to learn the hard way. A loss is tough anytime. This one hurts in many different ways.
The Wildcats played with absolute no heart for the first 25 minutes of this ballgame. At one point, the Alabama lead was 20 points. I don't know what changed, but at around the 13 minutes mark in the second half, the Kentucky Wildcats found something inside them that we had not seen all season long. They found a will to win plus an extra ounce of toughness they needed.
In the end, the earlier breakdown by the Cats added with freshman mistakes down the stretch were too much for our young boys to handle. If you can ever make a case that a loss is good, this may be the best time. Kentucky now goes back to the locker room with a knowledge they did not have before this game. These young freshman now know that this is the SEC and you have to have an extra dose of toughness along with your talent to succeed. I saw a will to win in these kids tonight for the first time this season. I'm sure it will carry over to the rest of the schedule.
To sum it up, I'm very disappointed in the loss. However, I am also very optimistic about the future. It's not March yet.
Kentucky 66 Alabama 68
