The Year To Come

*Wipes Forehead* Wow, what a season! The journey may have began when John Calipari was hired to take over this rich basketball tradition, but in my opinion, the journey of this particular season started on April 18, 2010. That day, in the mist of everything that was the Draft Cats, (in my bedroom to myself, of course) I guaranteed that the 2012 Wildcats would win a National Title because of the signing of Michael [Kidd]-Gilchrist. At the time, he was the #1 recruit in the nation. Prior to Anthony Davis' freakish growth spurt. I knew that with him coming to the BBN, only more players were bound to follow. Add along, Davis, top 5 recruit Marquis Teague, and 5-star Kyle Wiltjer and you had the makings of greatness. O wait!, my bad! Some guys named Terrence Jones and Doron Lamb had "Ok" seasons in 2010-2011 and decided to return with an older guy named Darius Miller.

Fast forward to present day, and you know what? I was right.

After the incredible season of 39-2, the accomplishments received by all the players (Lol at Davis), and a National Title, it really was a GR8 year. The incoming freshmen look awfully good and I would venture to say that they will hold up to their expectations. Archie Goodwin and Alex Poythress alike have the ability, if it weren't for the one-and-done rule to come out of high school right now and play in the league. Will Cauley is solid in the paint and the hopes of either Nerlens Noel and Shabazz Muhammed make you almost lose sleep at night not even a week removed from the Championship Game. This talk about Alex Oriakhi may not be a gust in the wind after all. My guess is that the decision of Noel affects that however. As well as the decision of Shabazz has a say in whether Lamb or Teague returns.
Wiltjer responds with his Davis impersonation.

Many people outside of Kentucky and maybe even here have forgotten all about former 5-star recruit, Mr. Ryan Harrow. The gifted point guard that transferred from N.C. State after a coaching switch last season. What about Mr. 3 Goggles himself, Kyle Wiltjer? Kyle has all the tools that you ask for on the offensive side of the ball. Add some bulk over the summer and you're looking at a possible 6th man depending on newcomers.

What am I getting at?

Although, it is highly unlikely that more than 1 player will return from "#8", if that one person does... I rest my case. You're looking at (Yea, I know we say it every year but I'm not kidding.) the best recruiting class of all time. Get your popcorn ready once again, the recruiting trail is on fire late. Kick back and watch some baseball. I mean, the Bat Cats are #1 in the country right now and hopefully it stays that way! Football will be here shortly and they look like they have a lot of promise with a solid 2012 class as well. Before long, you'll be camping out in 45 degree weather for those    little tickets to that special event.

By the way, is Darius Miller coming back? Haven't heard anything. O well, C-A-T-S!
