Kentucky 82, Samford 50
Cats easily defeated the Samford Bulldogs, 82-50. A great shooting performance from the cats, shooting exactly 50% from the field, and 42.9% from the three point line. The game was filled with back door layups, references to layup shooters, and a very quite rupp arena. The news of the game was Terrence Jones being out with a dislocated pinkie. With Jones being out gave Darius Miller the starting nod and Miller played very well, he seemed to get out of the shooting slump that he's been in, scoring 17 points, on 6 of 10 shooting from the field, and 3 for 6 from behind the three point line. The leading scorer of the game was the man in the picture above, Doron Lamb who finished with 26 points, 8 for 12 shooting from the field, and 4 for 6 from the three point line. Even though the cats win in double figures, just like Jay Williams mentioned at halftime, Kentucky needs Jones to go deep and possibly hang up number eight. Marquis Teague is improving, and showing growth at the point guard position. Teague attacking and being able to finish and/or finding the open man only makes this team even deadlier. I know this was a cupcake game but I felt like the team is figuring one another out. I'm sure coach Calipari is upset with so many backdoor cuts, but this was a good learning experience for if and when they play another team that runs the same style of offense. The Wildcats play at 1:00pm on Thursday vs Loyola Greyhounds. That's all for the game, hope for the same Thursday!
