A win is a win...

The cats came away with a 73-51 win but it wasn't pretty. Who would have thought that Kentucky would be losing to the Arkansas Little-Rock Trojans, 30-27 at the half. Kentucky came out very sluggish, turning the ball over, and seemed mentally not ready to play. The Trojans of Arkansas Little-Rock took advantage of that and out scrapped the cats to take the lead at the half. Then the second half began. Took UK a while into the 2nd half to get things rolling. The defense was looking much better, less one on one, and Darius Miller who joined the 1,000 point club got a hot hand, and what seemed to be a very close game turned into a 10 point lead for the cats. Now after a very distraught Kentucky team in the first half had turned things around.
The trojans who had played hard just couldn't hang with the athleticism of Kentucky as the cats went on a 23-1 run and would eventually brow down. Speaking of the "brow," Davis was the Player of the game in this one with 22 points, 16 rebounds and 3 blocks. Davis was really dominant and even hit a jumper with his foot on the 3 point line. Miller, as mentioned before hit the 1,000 point mark, and had 15 points on 3-3 pointers. Congrats Darius, doubt we'll ever see another player do that with Cal at the helm. Kidd-Gilchrist played a very sloppy first half but recovered in the second by hitting the boards and ending up with 9 points and 10 rebounds. Lamb added 9 points, and 5 boards, while Jones made it to the double figures mark for the first time in a long time with 10 points and 6 boards. Teague ended up with 6 points and 5 assists and had his hands full trying ton contain the Trojan guard, Chuck Guy.
A game that seemed very sloppy from the get go turned into a easy win for the cats. I'm sure Calipari is unhappy with his club but he's happy with the win. Cats play South Carolina on Saturday, and hopefully it's a better complete game performance as they look to start SEC play with a win.
