Impact

The end of the college basketball season is upon us and the NBA Playoffs aren't far off, that being said, it got me thinking. In this era of one-and-dones, no team can touch Kentucky with the rapidness of sending players into the league (save North Carolina). The university currently has 15 players on active NBA rosters with Nazr Mohammed and Jamaal Magloire being the only two prior to 2002.

Eric Bledsoe
Keith Bogans
DeMarcus Cousins
Josh Harrellson
Chuck Hayes
Brandon Knight
DeAndre Liggins

Jamaal Magloire
Jodie Meeks
Nazr Mohammed
Daniel Orton
Patrick Patterson
Tayshaun Prince
Rajon Rondo
John Wall

So a questioned arose in this sports mind, "How many are ranked among the NBA's best?"

My answer:

Rajon Rondo is considered in the top 3-5 point guards around the league and could go down as one of the best all-time (not kidding). Add in young blood like Brandon Knight, John Wall, and Demarcus Cousins and you have 4 of the top 25 players in the league. After tomorrow night, win or lose, two things are certain: 1.) We will either be really happy or really sad.    2.) Anthony Davis and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist will likely go 1 and 2 respectively in the draft. Don't quote me but it likely will not take long for those young Cats to make an impact on the next level. That gives us 6 players who have been drafted in the last 6 years among the NBA's elite. Foreshadowing the joining of either/both Shabazz Muhammed and/or Nerlens Noel with Archie Goodwin and Alex Poythress and before long, they may be calling it the KBA. No pon intended.
